What is Tandem Skydiving?

Are you the first-timer who never learned to skydive? Tandem skydiving/ parachuting is the safest and quickest form of enjoying this airborne sport. Beginners and novice skydivers can sign up for tandem skydiving. It requires far less training and guidance than jumping solo — because your licensed instructor is responsible for most of the operations while flying including deploying the parachute. The instructors are strapped to you via a harness and both of you jump out of the aeroplane together. They are certified by the United States Parachute Association (USPA) and have surpassed every safety standard. So, all you have to do is cherish every moment with absolute safety throughout. For skydiving in Abu Dhabi, the Sports Aviation Club has laid out a few rules regarding who is eligible for this airborne adventure. You have to fulfil certain criteria before you go for the heart-racing jump. The first law is that the skydiver must be above 18 years of age. A minor cannot be given consent for skydiving. Secondly, the person should not weigh more than 100 kg. A person weighing over the recommended scale will have to consult with the instructor. Besides this, a normal BMI is considered so that one can be able to fit in the harness.

Things you Need to Know

  • Due to Covid-19 precautionary measures, it is important to carry negative RT-PCR test conducted within 48 hours. Also, have a full vaccination certificate.
  • Carry your valid photo ID in the form of passport, Emirates ID or any other related document for performing the activity.
  • Participants are requested to come 30 minutes before the scheduled skydiving time. The entire experience from then takes around 3-4 hrs.
  • Wear comfortable, loose-fitted clothes and pair it with lace-up shoes for uninterrupted sail in the air. Avoid jewellery, collared shirts, mini shorts or crop tops.
  • Due to such altitude, you are suggested not to scuba dive 24 hours before the session.
  • Skydiving is an activity that is highly controlled by the weather. From poor visibility to rain predictions, there can be delays or cancellations of your flight as per the atmospheric conditions. Accordingly, you will be allowed a new slot or will receive the refund.
  • Before the activity, remember to sign the Waiver Form.
  • Pregnant women are not allowed.
