  • Pakistani origin UAE nationals are not eligible for a visa-on-arrival scheme. Pakistani nationals are not eligible for a Tourist visa and should instead apply for a Visit visa. It is usually valid for 3 months.


Things to Know Before You Apply for India Visa from Dubai

You should know the following things before applying for an Indian visit visa.

  • e-visa can be applied for maximum twice in a calendar year (January to December). An Indian visa is valid for one year from the date the visa is issued and not from the date of arrival in India.
  • Applicants from eligible territories/countries should apply an online minimum of 4 days in advance of the date of arrival with a window of 120 days.
  • You will have to submit a Yellow Fever vaccination certificate if you are from the Yellow Fever affected countries or traveled to any Yellow Fever affected country.
  • e-Visa is valid for entry through the following designated airports: Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bagdogra, Bengaluru, Calicut, Chennai, Chandigarh, Cochin, Coimbatore, Delhi, Gaya, Goa, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mangalore, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Tiruchirappalli, Trivandrum, Varanasi & Vishakhapatnam, and these designated seaports (i.e. Cochin, Goa, Mangalore, Mumbai, Chennai
  • Every individual should have a separate passport and it is unavailable for individuals endorsed on Spouse/Parent’s passport
  • You need to present confirmed flight tickets and hotel vouchers at the airport during your visit to India and should have sufficient money to spend during your stay in India
  • You must travel on the passport through which you have applied for e-visa even if the ETA (Electronic Travel Authority) was issued on the old passport. However, it is mandatory to carry the old passport in such cases.
  • If you are applying for a 5-year visa, you have to be present to give your biometrics at the time of submission of application at the Visa Application Center.
  • Non-residents of UAE from Bangladesh, China, Sudan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Pakistan origin cannot apply for any kind of visa
  • You will require prior approval from the Consulate General of India, Dubai if you apply for a Tourist visa for 1 year or more than 1 year
  • You will require prior approval from the Consulate General of India, Dubai for any kind of visa for more than 1 year
  • Pakistani nationals are eligible for Visit Visa, Medical Visa, Business Visa, and Conference Visa. They are not eligible for Entry Visa or Tourist Visa.
  • Issuing a visa depends on the Government of India and it is not the right of the applicant. Immigration authorities have the right to refuse entry to India under the provisions of the Foreigners Act.

The following are the different types of visas for India.

Tourist Visa: This visa is given to a person whose purpose of visiting India is recreation, sightseeing and to meet friends, or relatives. This person should not have an occupation or residence in India. This type of visa is non-extendable and non-convertible. It is usually issued for 3 months with a single entry.

Employment Visa: This visa is issued to skilled and qualified persons who are appointed by organizations, companies, and economic undertakings as senior executives or managers, technical experts or any other senior positions.

Business Visa: This visa is granted to a foreign national who wants to visit India to establish business or industrial ventures or explore options for business or industry or who wants to sell or purchase industrial goods.

Medical Visa: This visa is issued to all foreign nationals seeking medical care or treatment in treatment centers or recognized specialty hospitals in India. Some of the ailments included though non-exhaustive are heart-related problems, organ transplantations, ophthalmic disorders, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, renal disorders, joint replacement and so on.

Transit Visa: This visa is issued to bonafide transit passengers only for a maximum period of 15 days with single/double entry facilities.

Conference Visa: This visa is issued to attend conferences/seminars/workshops etc. in India. It is mandatory to submit a letter of invitation from the organizers of the conference while applying for the visa.

Student Visa: This visa is issued to foreign students who intend to pursue regular academic courses in institutes such as medical, paramedical, engineering, technical, etc.

Journalist Visa: This visa is issued to photographers and professional journalists. Foreign nationals who are involved in the field of electronic or print media, journalism, and the likes need to apply for J visa, even if they are visiting India for any other reason other than journalism purposes.

Entry Visa: This visa is given to persons of Indian origin and can cover Former Indian nationals, spouse of the person holding OCI or POI card, spouses of persons of Indian origin, and dependent children of persons holding OCI (Overseas Citizenship of India) or POI (Person of Indian Origin) card.

Mountaineering Visa: It is mandatory for persons desiring to visit India for mountaineering/climbing mountain peaks etc. to obtain permission from the Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF), which coordinates all expeditions in the Himalayas.

Film Visa: This visa is issued to foreign nationals who are visiting India for the shooting of feature films, web series/shows, reality TV shows, commercial TV serials/shows, etc. and location recce.

Missionary Visa: This is a visa with a duration approved by the Government of India. It is a single-entry visa It may take up to 3 months to process this visa.

Required Documents for India Visa

India visa document requirements from Dubai are as follows:

  • There should be a minimum validity of 6 months in the passport
  • At least 2 blank visa pages should be present in the passport
