The Beast on Kings Island features among the top human-made wonders globally. The roller coaster, incepted in 1979, has held the record ever since and is now on the verge of surpassing this record of being the longest and fastest wooden roller coaster globally. The renovated Beast is expected to be unleashed to the public this year. The previous record has been improved by 2 feet to make the final distance of the ride from the previous 7,359 feet to 7,361 feet.
Mike Koontz, The Kings Island Vice President and General Manager, proudly stated that he is immensely happy to hold the unbroken record of the longest roller coaster for the last 40+ years, and no theme park worldwide has dared to come close, considering that records are always meant to be broken especially in the dynamic scenario of roller coasters.
Key Highlights
Some of the key highlights are vertical drops from 137 feet and 141 feet, including a 53o tilt and 18o tilt, respectively, covered in a journey time of approximately 4 minutes. The journey passes through a 125-foot-long underground tunnel at the feet of the 137 feet vertical drop. You can expect it to run at speeds of 65 mph with almost eight banked turns, some almost at 45o and a 540o helix tunnel. The Kings Island management has decided to remodify the first drop from 45o to 53o for a seamless transition from the first tunnel to the second drop. The project is expected to have a closure date within this month itself.
The ride is iconic in nature, considering the age of the roller coaster. The design is unique for a wooden coaster, and the nearby surrounding woods make up for a captivating experience.
