The statue depicts a Vrikshasana Pose of Swami Ramdev. Also called as Tree Pose, it is a standing posture that focuses on balance and concentration. One has to engage their core muscles — the sole of one leg is pressed against the inner thigh of another leg with toes pointing down, and arms stretched overhead clasped to each other. It is one of the toughest yoga postures to control and stay for longer periods. In the statue, Swami Ramdev’s gaze is fixed on a point ahead with a grin, conveying a sense of inner peace and unwavering determination.

The Thorough Process behind Swami Ramdev’s Wax Statue

Swami Ramdev visited Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in London in 2018 to record his postures, expressions, and body measurements. He met a team of 20 members who undertook the delicate and complex task. The craft began with sculpting a clay model, followed by transforming it into wax and giving it the exact skin tone and physical details. After 200 measurements, plenty of pictures and months of detailing, the lifelike statue has finally been revealed. This wax statue is timeless and pensive. It was then reported that Swami agreed to the statue project in the hope that it will bring Yoga to the international platform. Well, he wasn’t wrong.

As the statue was revealed, it took the Internet by storm. The uncanny resemblance to his real personality left the audience in awe — it was hard to tell who was who. Once the statue is installed in NY, it will allow visitors to feel as if they’re sharing a moment with the renowned yoga guru.
