Egypt has announced visa reforms to boost tourism and attract investors.
This Middle Eastern country is all set to offer a multiple-entry visa for the first time. The new Egypt visa will allow the traveler to enter the country more than once during its five-year validity at USD 700.
The initiative has come out as a rescue when Egypt is in the middle of an economic crisis due to the consequence of the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war.
This multiple-entry visa also aims at investors, who can enter the country multiple times without facing the complexities of visa processing every time.
There were a series of other measures taken on the same day. The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Ahmed Issa, added a handful of nationalities to the single-entry, 30-day visa-on-arrival eligibility list. More than 180 nations, including China and India, can now obtain this visa for a fee of US $ 25. Until now, the facility was exclusively available to Schengen countries, the UK, the USA, Japan, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand.
China is one of the major contributors to the country’s tourism, as around 220,000 tourists come to Egypt out of the 150 million Chinese tourists that travel globally.
Statistics confirm that Egypt witnessed around 12 million tourists last year and is eyeing an annual growth of 25 to 30 percent, hitting 30 million tourists by 2038. The tourism minister is confident about Egypt’s target in 2023 to reach 15 million tourists.
While tourist inflow from Russia and Ukraine has recently suffered a significant drop, citizens of the US, the Netherlands, and Kazakhstan are visiting Egypt in massive numbers.
Egypt is optimistic about these measures as they will revive the economy. These moves will push tourism, lifting the country’s GDP. Besides, it will release regional tensions by opening arms to different countries and establishing ties.
The country looks forward to creating changes that make it easier for Turks, Algerians, Israelis, Moroccans, and Iranians to travel here. It has also brought convenient visa facilities to embrace tourists from Turkey, Iraq, and India who hold residency in Arab Gulf countries and the Schengen region, along with tourists from the USA, Japan, the UK, New Zealand, and Canada.
Egypt is running for tourism fame; in that light, it has also enhanced facilities that attract group tourists.
Egypt is a wonderful country known for its great pyramid of Giza, beautiful felucca ride on the Nile, scuba dive at Hurghada, and fascinating cultural museums. There are numerous upcoming attractions, including the much-awaited Grand Egyptian Museum.
