Dubai Dolphinarium

Dubai Dolphinarium, opened in 2008, has fast become one of the city’s greatest amusement venues. Sponsored and supported by the Dubai Government, Dubai Dolphinarium is the first of the Dubai Marine World’s five concepts, others being Coral Reef Aquarium, Fish Farm, Gatorville and a research and therapy center.

This unique facility has been primarily developed to educate and entertain visitors of all ages while emphasizing the need for the conservation of dolphins and other endangered aquatic species in a safe manner. Located within the picturesque Creekside Park in Dubai at Umm Hurair – the Dolphinarium is an intriguing blend of nature and science that enables you to take a magical journey through the adventurous marine world.

This most modern dolphinarium holds the distinction of being the Middle East’s first fully air-conditioned indoor marine mammal facility. The temperature here ranges from 21 degrees Celsius to 25 degrees Celsius thus making it a highly favored summer attraction.

  • Facilities

Occupying an area of about 5,000 square meters, this AED 33 million project features an expansive 180-degree main arena complete with cinema-quality seating to accommodate up to 1,200 people, in addition to the highly sophisticated laser, spotlights, and sound system. The seating is arranged around a 5.5 deep seawater pool with more than three million liters of water. Besides the arena pool, there is a habitat pool that resembles dolphins’ natural habitat area and a sealed pool – all of which are purified on a regular basis. A medical pool is also attached to cater to the marine mammals’ health requirements.

Marine themed classrooms, a multimedia library and a kid’s gym are also within the premises. For the maximum comfort and convenience of visitors, the dolphinarium further provides facilities by way of Happy Valley Restaurant serving a delectable array of cuisines suitable for kids and adults, Gift Shop from where a variety of souvenir toys can be purchased, and restrooms.

  • Marine Mammals

In its well-maintained environment, Dubai Dolphinarium harbors five intelligent and charming Black Sea Bottlenose dolphins, such as Fekla, Jerry, Ksyusha, Senya, and Tetka, apart from four Northern Fur Seals: Fila, Ghosha, Lusha, and Max.

  • Latest Addition

On 28th May 2012, Dubai Dolphinarium had a new addition to the family: a cute baby bottle-nose dolphin born to Senya and Kyushu. The dolphinarium recently revealed that the visitors will be given the opportunity to meet the gorgeous little one on the occasion of its 5th-anniversary celebrations that run from 17th through 25th May 2013.

  • Entertainment Activities

The major draw of the facility is undeniably its 45 minutes long fantastic performance by dolphins and seals wherein they dance, juggle, paint and even play basketballs. Adding to this dolphin show is a complementing effect rendered by up-to-date lasers and spotlights in accompaniment to suitable music. Moreover, educational related lectures and activities conducted by dolphin experts and scientists specializing in the marine mammal at Marine Mammal Education Centre are incredibly noteworthy.

Perhaps the favorite among your little ones will be photo sessions that allow them to captivate some memorable moments with adorable dolphins as well as sea lions. Another exciting segment is a video shoot that involves a dolphin pulling a small rubber boat with your kid in it. To get closer to this marine mammal, the dolphinarium also provides an opportunity to swim with a dolphin. Most of all, it has facilities to hold parties and events, such as cocktail receptions, weddings, corporate events, dinner parties, and birthday parties.
