Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh is chosen as the host city for the next WTTC Summit

in November 2022.

As the 21st edition of the WTTC (World Travel and Tourism Council) Global Summit culminated in April 2022, Saudi Arabia’s capital has been finalized as the next venue for the next Global Summit. It will take place at Saudi Arabia’s capital city, Riyadh, starting from 29th November 2022 to 2nd December 2022.

The WTTC Global Summit is one of the most looked forward to international travel events that has been conducted since 1996, every year in a different city or destination in order to attract global audience and further bring together all the members and experts of the international travel and tourism vertical.



The Global Summit made a comeback in 2021 at Cancun as it became the first important WTTC gathering attended by major leaders from the industry since the outburst of pandemic in 2020. And the recently concluded Global Summit was held at Manila, from 20th April 2022 to 22nd April 2022. With the main focus to safely reinstate the normalcy of the travel industry, the April session of summit was attended by the top government representatives plus key industry leaders, decision makers and other members.

The WTTC made some significant forecasts during the Manila summit mainly based on the data and reports provided by its knowledge partner, ForwardKeys. Accordingly, the industry is expected to see a bounce back in travel, together with an incredible boost in international flight and holiday bookings. It also revealed the list of top performing destinations as well as the places that are on the path of recovery during the event.

There were mainly enlightening sessions, mainly the Global Leaders Dialogue, which explored the ways on how to adapt to the current situation through feasible solutions. Another major highlight of the event was the launch of the Hotel Sustainability Basics that is geared towards the importance and empowerment of sustainability facet in the hospitality and travel sectors.

The President and CEO at WTTC, Julia Simpson, said in her farewell talk, “It has been a privilege to bring together so many leaders from across the global Travel & Tourism sector to the beautiful city of Manila.   “This Summit is living proof that nothing beats getting together, sharing ideas, debating the challenges, and finding consensus.   “We still have a lot of work to do to bring down post-pandemic barriers, open economies and harmonise health data for seamless travel. But the future looks bright, and the next decade is there for the taking.   “We look forward to our 22nd Global Summit later this year in Riyadh, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to mark the next chapter in the sector’s ongoing recovery.”   On this move, the Saudi Tourism Authority’s CEO and Board Member, Fahd Hamidaddin, said, “We are excited to welcome the world to experience the excitement and the energy of Saudi. We promise you that the next summit will be fresh, inspiring, and rewarding.   “We look forward to our 22nd Global Summit later this year in Riyadh, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to mark the next chapter in the sector’s ongoing recovery.”
