The mighty Burj Khalifa is an architectural spectacle to witness, and it has added a new kitty in its bag, the new light show, World of Colour, projected on its façade. You will be amazed by the exquisite Burj Khalifa light show as it promises you preposterous sights to witness live, whether you are a tourist or a local. The tallest tower worldwide will be illuminated along its façade with psychedelic colours and lasers as the renowned LED screen displays the various colour shade spectrum and unique shapes. Burj Khalifa World of Colour is as popular as the multi-coloured New Year’s Eve Burj Khalifa firework show and focuses to add some vibrant colors and unique appeal to your Dubai holiday.

How to reach the Burj Khalifa?

As the mighty tower is the tallest structure in the world, you can witness this dazzling light spectacle even from far. Choose the most convenient transport mode as per your preference – Metro, Taxi, or rent a car. The Dubai Mall or the Burj Khalifa red line metro station is just 10 minutes from the twinkling lighted tower. You can also choose to get down at the Business Bay red line metro station, a 15-minute walk away from the Burj Khalifa. This route will help you avoid passing through the dense crowd heading towards the Dubai Mall, one of the largest attractions in dubai. The peak hour rush can be too messy, so make sure you take sufficient buffer time to catch hold of the best seat in the house. Taking a taxi or renting a car can be time-consuming due to the peak hour rush. We recommend you to use the Metro as it is convenient and easily accessible.

The concept

The concept came into existence when the UAE wanted to celebrate its 50th birthday of existence in the year 2021. The organizers wanted something grandeur in nature, and there is no better venue to showcase it than the tallest building in the world. ECA2, the company that conceptualized the laser and light show, said its prime focus was to ensure that the mighty Burj Khalifa would interact with their surroundings and create a captivating Dubai downtown experience.

The concept, design, and final production of the laser & light show were given to ECA2, one of the leading creators of premium, high-quality multimedia shows. Their objective was to create a stunning light display like never, primarily because Dubai city has never settled for anything less. As a result, they produced the most stunning laser show worldwide, with laser projectors, beam lights, and sky tracer consuming power of 372 kW.

The company did a magnificent job creating an enchanting multimedia show at such short notice – within two months of installation. Furthermore, several technical aspects were restructured to achieve the desired result, including the perfectly choreographed coordination with the aquatic dancing fountains’ timings.

Challenges

The primary challenge was to plan and cover every minute detail to ensure that the lights were safely installed by the technicians as the building was almost meeting the clouds through steep surfaces. This had to be perfectly coordinated with the fireworks so that the laser and lights illuminate the Dubai neighbourhood and skyline seamlessly. Having a large set of multimedia equipment rigged on the Burj Khalifa tower required immense coordination among the various team involved. The final challenge involved coordinating and validating the final setup, as the launch timeline was quite short. 110 skilled resources were deployed and worked to execute this magical show, replicating that of the NYE timed show. Globally, this has become the most powerful laser show ever.

The Burj Khalifa Light and Laser Show

The Burj Khalifa Light and Laser Show

Amongst the many reasons to visit Burj Khalifa is the fascinating light spectacle held every evening at a very slow pace before the start of the aquatic dancing fountain. The LED slowly lights up and illuminates the Burj Lake with its shimmering lights that make the Burj Lake resemble a star-studded sky. The amazing Burj Khalifa light show is accompanied by music with vibrant and effervescence, lighting up the entire tower façade decorated with twinkling lights and laser jets

Every night marks a new theme and concept highlighted through the laser and light show, making it non-repetitive in nature. Each show showcases the Middle East region’s rich cultural heritage, along with its incredible transformation and future ambitions. In addition, various iconic official emblems of the UAE are displayed, such as the falcon flight, the fine desert sand dunes, and much more. The light show comes into prominence while celebrating special occasions like Ramadan, Chinese New Year, and other diverse festivals and events.

What is being used to display the unbelievable Burj Khalifa light show?

The tallest building globally continues to woo the audience with its amazing architectural might and never seizes an opportunity to break newer records that attract the tourist population each year. Hold your breath as you read these interesting facts about Burj Khalifa light show– close to 1.2 million LED lights are used to feature over an incredible 28.7 km of cables, 118 tons of light beams and accessories, and 1.1 million pixels. Overall, this unique spectacle illuminates the Dubai skyline and transforms the mighty tower into one of the biggest colours displays worldwide.

Where to watch the Burj Khalifa Light Show?

The edge of Burj Lake offers the best seat in the house. The tiny bridge leading to the Souk Al Bahar on the Burj Lake promises a magnificent view. You can also check out the laser and light show at the neighbouring café terraces or the Souk Al Bahar at Shakespeare, where you will find a smaller crowd witnessing this captivating spectacle. Alternatively, hop on the traditional abra lake ride around Burj Lake if you couldn’t get a good seat to witness the laser and light spectacle.

You do not need to be right up close to the Burj Khalifa to witness this compelling light magic, as the 828-meter-tall building can be admired and appreciated even from a good distance. In addition, the New Year Eve’s fireworks celebrations got a new partner as part of its festivities through the amazing Burj Khalifa light show. This is expected to illuminate a vast area of 109,252 square meters, transforming Dubai into one of the most colourful, grandeur, and vibrant spots in the world.

Burj Khalifa light show timings

Burj Khalifa light show

We recommend you witness the dancing fountains at dusk and return for this stop-gap entertainer after your early dinner. The show runs every 30 minutes over the weekends. If you want to witness this magical show from inside the Burj Khalifa, you can also purchase your tickets online. The Burj Khalifa light show also showcases awareness campaigns and social messages. The unbeatable investigating officer Sethurama Iyer is back with the biggest case of his life!

Getting into the shoes of a super sleuth, the iconic Malayalam actor Mammooty has brought his classic movie back after 17 years. In what could be called as the largest India’s franchise,

CBI 5

: The Brain is the fifth installation to the Oru CBI Diary Kurippu (1988). The movies revolve around a series of gruesome murder mysteries and baffling new storylines. Packed with mind-blowing scenes and powerful dialogues, the latest trailer has already set the internet ablaze.

This Mammooty-starrer has garnered 2.4 million views in just 1 day on YouTube. Playing the main protagonist, Sethurama Iyer is known for his trademark mannerisms, brilliant ideas and eye for details.

The movie is on a promotion spree and spreading the thrill worldwide. Speaking of which, a momentous milestone was created when Kerala’s most loved on-screen crime investigating trailer enthralled Burj Khalifa last night. It was a spectacular launch as the skyscraper lit up majestically. A throng of people gathered at the front of the tallest building in the world to watch the most-anticipated trailer of 2022.

Mammooty was present himself with Renji Panicker, Ramesh Pisharody and officials of Truth Global Films to grace the eve.

CBI 5

The film has also roped in actors like Soubin Shahir, Dileesh Pothan, Saikumar and Kaniha in major roles. Audience is interested as it is also the comeback announcement of the famous Malayalam actor Jagathy Sreekumar, who was critically injured and partially paralysed 7 years back. Mammooty said that was an emotional moment to have him back on the set.

Portraying a clever and insightful detective of CBI, Mammooty realises that the expectation is high as it has been long after the last release in 2005. Back during the interview, the director Madhu thanks his entire team for the success of his franchise.

Earlier, Ranveer Singh had unveiled his film 83, based on the 1983 World Cup, at the Burj Khalifa. Jumping on the bandwagon was Mammooty’s son Dulquer Salmaan who unveiled his film Kurup a few months back.

Helmed by K Madhu and written by SN Swamy, CBI 5 is scheduled to release on May 1 worldwide, with a U/A certificate. The exuberance to watch the veteran crime solver back in his game can be seen on social media.

There was a time when travelers thought that India’s Qutub Minar, built-in 1193, was the world’s tallest building. Standing at a mere 73 meters, the building impresses today not for its height but for its beauty and historic significance. The Eiffel Tower opened to the public in 1889 sparked people’s romantic imagination for a century and a half. A series of other ‘tall’ buildings followed, and then came the Taipei 101 in China, standing at 508 meters. It was considered the world’s tallest until 2010 dawned and the world saw true magnificence in height, as it were. The

Dubai Burj Khalifa

has outstripped all other tall marvels not only for its height, which is a stupendous 828 meters but also for its sheer unmatched beauty. The building is 160 floors comprised of many architectural miracles. Do you want to know more about this tallest building in Dubai.

Multiple Observatory Decks at Dubai Burj Khalifa

Guests to the Burj Khalifa can enjoy incredible views of Dubai from the 124th, 125th, and 148th floors. A tour of all three observatory decks takes about a 90-minute premium experience, which is worth the money it costs.

Level 124: The Burj Khalifa observatory deck tour begins at the 124th floor, in the ‘At the Top Burj Khalifa SKY lounge’. After enjoying the views from here, guests are personally escorted to a dedicated elevator, whose walls display specially-designed projections of global landmarks. The idea is to give guests the feeling that they’re flying over these landmarks as they ascend to the observatory deck at Level 125.

Level 125: On this level, guests can enjoy spectacular 360-degree views of the city from the spacious decks. Dubai – A Falcon’s Eye View attraction is a unique telescope that allows guests to experience the city from a unique perspective. Guest Ambassadors offer fun trivia about the Dubai Burj Khalifa while guests integrate reality and special effects using green screen photography.

Level 148: This level is the crowning glory of the Dubai Burj Khalifa, with access to the world’s highest outdoor observation deck at 555 meters from the ground. Guests can bask in the luxury lounges as they take in the breathtaking views. Several interactive stations at the deck lounge provide guests with the opportunity to learn more about the UAE. The highlight of this deck observatory is the Dubai Fountain show, watched from the most panoramic views in the world.

A Design Inspired by the Islamic Art

The whole of Dubai’s Burj Khalifa is an ode to Islamic tenets, right from the shape of the building to the high mosque’s minarets. Its minaret is shaped like a particular desert bloom, the Hymenocallis flower. When you see the building from a distance, you can observe the delicate way in which the minaret tapers to the very tip. The flower’s timid yet magnificent visual aesthetic embodies the very tenets of Islamic architecture. When viewed from above, the design of the Burj resembles a flower with three petals, which again is a reference to the floral shapes in Islamic art.

Unique Burj Khalifa Experiences

The Burj Khalifa is known for several extravagant experiences such as high-speed elevators, fancy light shows and so on. If you’re planning to visit Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, better get to know everything you can do there. Have fun!

1. Burj Khalifa At The Top

Burj Khalifa

On the 124th floor is the At The Top Souvenir Store that sells key chains, caps, T-shirts and exclusive Burj Khalifa collections, starting at AED 10. At The Top also has a fabulous electronic telescope that visitors can use to enjoy distant views during the day, and focus on the moon and constellation stars at night. The At the Top Café offers the Burj Khalifa signature cappuccino and pastry of the day. The Armani DELI offers a 3-course set lunch or dinner from AED 280.

Burj At the Top gets very crowded during the twilight and sunset hours. There are usually long queues for the elevators. Guests must book their tickets in advance in order to bypass the elevator rush and get to At The Top an hour before twilight. The Burj Khalifa is now allowing sunrise view sessions from At The Top, beginning at 5.30 am, with viewings every 30 minutes till 8 am.

At The Top also offers interactive presentations and ongoing videos of all the record-breaking events that the Burj Khalifa has witnessed. Guests can watch how Tom Cruise scaled the building for the movie Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. The café opens at 5.30 am to cater to the sunrise viewing guests. Guests can stay as long as they want on the 124th floor’s At The Topdeck – there is no time limit for this experience. Guests can also rent audio-guided tours of At The Top in several languages.

2. The Highest Restaurant In The World

At mosphere Burj khalifa

If you’re ready to fork out Dhs490 for a few scones and cucumber sandwiches along with tea, you can enjoy high tea in the world’s highest-altitude restaurant – At.mosphere. Located on the 124th floor, this award-winning restaurant is managed by Michelin-starred Chef Jérôme Lagarde. The food is cooked on electric stoves at the At.mosphere, with organic vegetables and meat imported from Australia. A meal here is worth it if you are celebrating a very special occasion – such as a marriage proposal, or an anniversary. A basic a la carte dinner will cost you Dhs320 per person, and the breakfast package per person will set you back by Dhs325. Advance booking is mandatory.

3. High-speed Elevator

Forget about buying a plush toy from the 124th floor At The Top souvenir shop. If you want a real adventure, then you must experience the high-speed lift at the top of the building. Be warned that you’ll be riding the world’s third-fastest elevator, with a speed of 36km/hour. All of the Burj Khalifa’s elevators are double-decker and can comfortably take 12 to 14 persons per cabin. It’s also the only elevator in the world that travels the longest distance for an elevator, which is 578.5meters.

4. Incredible Light Show

Light Show

There is much to appreciate about the Burj Khalifa from the outside as well. For one thing, there is a fantastic nightly LED display on the building that begins at sunset and goes on till late at night. It is so spectacular that your jaw will literally drop. What’s more, they change this spectacular night show on a fortnightly basis, or during festivals and annual design updates. In fact, the Burj Khalifa management collaborated with Tiffany jewels and Cartier at one time and put up a one-night-only special LED collaborative show.

To stand outside and wait for the 5-minute LED extravaganza that comes on the hour every hour. The best place to watch this show is from the outside of The Dubai Mall. Let the magic unfold after the sun goes down. Watch how the LED lights highlight the sharp angles of the building, suggesting an upward motion, similar to a great crystal sword that thrusts up to the sky from the earth. When all lit up like this, the Burj Khalifa seems like something that’s stepped out from a fantasy world.

5. Double Sunset View!

Sunset View

The tallest building in Dubai is truly so tall that you can actually watch the sunset twice in a day? What? Yes, you can. Here’s what you do. Watch the sunset from the base of the building, and when it’s done, rush into one of the high-speed elevators in the Burj Khalifa and get right to the top. Now you can watch the sunset all over again. Believe us? The thing here is, you can experience the phenomenon of a double sunset from any really tall building. However, you’ll have to get to the top of the building in the few seconds that it takes for the sunset to be visible at that height. And that is something that you can do only at the Burj Khalifa, with its super-fast elevators.

Mind-boggling Burj Logistics!

Just imagine managing a huge structure like the Burj Khalifa on a day-to-day basis. How does one do it? Oh, sorry, we mean, how does the 1000+ member strong management team manage it? The sheer logistics of keeping the place clean and watered and lit just boggles the mind. Here are some fun, mind-boggling Burj logistics.

In order to clean the 24,000 reflective windows, the Burj Khalifa transports a team of 36 cleaners on 12 machines weighing 13 tons each. These machines move slowly along tracks set to the sides of the building, and the cleaners do their job at heights of 20,000 feet. Can you believe that a glass cleaning competition was conducted recently at the Burj Khalifa, which was won by the Australian company Cox Gomyl?

Did you know that in case of a fire, guests don’t have to traipse down 120 flights of stairs? This is because the Burj Khalifa’s designers anticipated fire exigencies and designed elevator systems that can carry out controlled evacuations. This is the first-ever system of this kind designed for a mega high-rise building.

  • The whole world is bemoaning water shortage. So how much water does the Burj Khalifa use? Well, that’s an average of 250,000 gallons of water every day!
  • The Burj Khalifa’s daily electrical demand can equal the power used by 360,000 100-watt bulbs burning all at the same time.
  • You might wonder just how much such a stupendous, unbelievably huge structure must have cost to build. Well, wonder no more – it cost $15 billion to build the Burj Khalifa.
  • The Burj Khalifa has a 4-story recreation and fitness annex that’s a fitness guru’s dream come true.
  • On Level 122, the world’s second-largest swimming pool holds court; not sure who’s allowed to swim up there, but we’d sure like a dip sometime!
  • The elevators at the Burj Khalifa run at 10 meters per second, which means it won’t take you more than a minute to reach the 124th floor. Go figure!
  • Just for fun, travel about 100 kilometers away from the Burj Khalifa and take a look. You can still see the spire of the building literally poking a hole in the blue Dubai sky
  • Just for fun again, think of how many people a single football field can hold. Not 35,000, right? Because that’s how many people can occupy the building at any given point in time. Now, consider this. The building weights as much as 100,000 elephants. Add to that the superstructure and the 35000 people. How much weight do you think is pressing on the earth then?

The Burj Khalifa Visitor Experience

The elevator to the 124th floor is so fast and smooth, in just a minute you’re at the top. First, you’ll exit to the indoor section of Level 124, where you’ll find a gift shop and touchscreen cameras to take in the view. This is for people who are too scared to look down from the observatory deck as yet. Be brave and get to the outdoor deck and peer into downtown Dubai. If you want to get really dizzy, peer upwards at the 400 or so meters of the Burj soaring over you. If you like, you can plug into the audio tour and listen to how the Burj was engineered and put together. There are telescopes placed at strategic points so you can focus on specific landmarks.

  • The Sky Lounge Experience

If you’ve bought yourself a ticket to the Sky Lounge, you’ll have to wait for a while on the ground floor in an exclusive lounge. Enjoy some traditional Arabic hospitality; sip on hot, thick coffee and nibble on dates. After this, you’re escorted via a VIP elevator to the level 148. This level is not crowded – you’ll only find about 20–30 people on this floor. Here you can spend a half-hour before joining the crowds at Level 125.

  • The View

Let’s talk about the view now. The view from the top of the Burj Khalifa shows you all of Dubai and some parts of Abu Dhabi. Take a scan of all the best places to visit in Dubai. You can get a clear sighting of The Burj al Arab, Hotel Atlantis, Palm Jumeirah, The Dubai Frame, Ain Dubai, and several other iconic landmarks. The view is mesmerizing during sunset and sunrise. You’ll never see such a brilliant show put on by the sun from anywhere else. In this case, taking the metro would be the fastest way to reach Burj Khalifa. You have to take the Red Line and get down at Burj Khalifa Metro Station. From here, you can either ride on the F13 bus and get down at the Dubai Mall Bus Stop (next stop) or walk towards Dubai Mall, if you have the time.

Conclusion

For many people, a trip to the Burj Khalifa equals experiencing the best of life. It’s true. The Burj lives up to its legend each and every time, giving you great value for your money. This unbelievable structure is a must-visit, must-experience item on any traveler’s list. What about you? Meanwhile, do check out other Dubai attractions.
